I never used dressings in my salads until I came to the US. But when I happened to be at Jason's Deli and got their Big Chef Salad, they gave me ranch dressing on the side. Just out of curiosity I put it on half of a salad and... man, it was good!
I bought Marie's ranch dressing a
couple of times from the store, but it seemed a little pricey.
Since my family also enjoys this dressing with anything, I decided to
make our own. The cost of this came to approximately $1.75 which is $2 less
comparing to the Marie's brand (for the same amount).
1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup sour cream
¼ - ½ cup milk
1 clove garlic
chopped fresh parsley or chives
salt and pepper
cayenne pepper, mustard, lemon juice (optional)
Mince the garlic very finely or use
garlic press. In a medium bowl mix garlic and all ingredients until
well combined. Depending on your taste and preference keep adding
milk or other spices. We love it just the way this is, next time I'll
try to make it with Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise.
